  News Flash! Letter from Governing Body announcing meeting schedule changes

  the watchtower meeting (this congregation meets on sat) that i just listened to via phone conference was cut 10 minutes short to have a letter read to all the congregation.

  here are the highlights:.

  - the governing body realizes that the pressures of this system of things are getting heavier on his people.. - just like the governing body of the 1st century, we do not want to add additional burden to you either.

  Eventually before Jan 1, 2008, the GB will make additonal changes and get rid of the school, they might keep the bible review and instruction talk but dump students talks. Let bible studies be trained by his/her teacher how to preach from door to door.

  I agree. This is a sound prediction. But they will start with trimming the TMS and the best way to start would be by dumping the no.2 talk (not called no.2 for nothing). Who the heck wants to hear some snotty kid standing reading the bible for 5 mins and nothing else! You dumb JW's, you are all so thick that you need to practice reading. The No.2 talk is now a childish embarrassment.

  it's truly exciting to see all of the "rapid fire" changes taking place in the watchtower org.

  buildings are being sold, kingdomhalls are "compressing", bethelites are being sent home, watchtower format changing to public issues and private issues, more and more judicial committee meetings being held for apostasy.

  (the watchtower is dead it just hasn't fallen over yet!

  Unfortunately, it can hardly be considered that a 'mass exodus' has begun when they had a 3% worldwide publisher increase last service year.

  Whatever credibility the WTS has been losing with all their scandals, etc, is being offset by developments on the world scene that making more and more JW's (and non-JW's) suppose that the GT is on the horizon after all. Economic recession, world food shortages, soaring petrol prices, terrorism, renewed threat of nuclear war, al quaeda, threat of horrible diseases, etc, etc. It almost does look like the riders of the apocalypse are about to ride forth (not since 1914). That's why we won't see any 'mass exodus' soon.

  LMAO, nice one Tyrone. You know you're trapped in a false religion when you can't even take a dump without hearing their baloney. Hearing that baloney while I'm on the throne just makes me squeeze harder, so perhaps its a good thing. LOL.

  Good point about taking the food away at the conventions being quite the opposite to the model Jesus left. I can remember the cold chill that went down my spine when they first did that.

  It's interesting that they have used Acts 15: 28 to justify the change. But it is a mistake on their part to associate the word "burden" with the meetings, because a lot of JW's will now view the 1.45 hr week night meeting as the same thing. That is a hell of a long meeting on a cold winters night. With the tendency for talks to go over time it will be more like 2 hours.

  For years they have been saying that going to all the meetings is a "commandment" in terms of Hebrews 10: 24,25, etc, and that such a commandment is not "burdensome" at all, ala 1 John 5:3 . Now they have admitted that going to the bookstudy is indeed a "burdensome" thing.

  Usuing Act 15:28,29 opens the way for them to bring in more moderating changes because there numerous other things that could easily be classified as not "necessary" and more like a burden on 7million suffering JWs.

  of history, specifically, the story of the "half way covenant".

  you see, once upon a time, you had a bunch of obnoxious religious fanatics who ate turkey with the 'injuns' , wore funny hats with buckles.

  Good summary. The organisation is contracting, shrivelling up. Isn't it wonderful!

  You can also add: Conventions and assemblies had proper meals and food provided, and tea and coffee. Now, nothing is provided. It won't be long until they make everyone bring their own toilet paper lol.

  Book study reminiscing - what was your memorable bookstudy experience.

  i must admit to feeling a bit nostalgic, sentimental now about the loss of the good old home book study arrangement.

  there are many rather pleasant memories coming to the mind of various homes i attended for the book study.

  i can still remember vividly most of them.. it had a warm, convivial, family feel about it.
